OWLNext is a community-driven, open-source continuation of Borland’s Object Windows Library (OWL), the classic C++ framework for building native Windows desktop applications. Maintained by the OWLNext community and sponsored by Borland-CodeGear, it preserves the familiar OWL programming model while updating the codebase for contemporary compilers and Windows SDKs. OWLNext provides type-safe, object-oriented wrappers around the Win32 API, a document/view architecture, robust message routing, and a comprehensive set of GUI classes for dialogs, controls, SDI/MDI frames, GDI drawing, printing, clipboard operations, and more. It delivers productive, lightweight Windows development in modern C++ without the overhead of .NET or the verbosity of raw Win32 calls.
OWLNext is well suited for teams maintaining legacy OWL codebases and for developers who prefer a compact, native alternative to larger frameworks.
